The Fli-pod is a world-first, multi-purpose, acoustic office environment enabling ground staff to ‘turn around’ an aircraft more efficiently and quickly. Situated at head of stand the Fli-pod brings all ground handling operations under one roof, closer to where they are needed. The Fli-pod is now deployed London Heathrow’s Terminal 5 and is used by baggage handlers, maintenance and ground staff providing a safe, quiet fully equipped work environment with access to all the systems they require. Developed for British Airways’ to support their bid to reduce aircraft turnaround times, IAC combined a concept design from YRM Architects with our long-established capability in portable, sound-controlled, people environments. The Fli-pod combines innovation and engineering in a single package. FEATURES All interior and exterior materials and features are environmentally-compliant.
Delivered ready for use, the Fli-pod is designed to contain all the features and convenience for the various teams on the tarmac. Lockable tool storage for maintenance teams is provided on the exterior of each Fli-Pod, as are the optional steel access steps and platform which are fully compliant with internationally recognised Building Regulations. Built onto an integral structural base frame each Fli-Pod is factory built and then road-transported and positioned by forklift truck. With height adjusting legs the Fli-Pod easily overcomes uneven terrain. OPTIONS
